Well hello, m'lovelies! With the number dwindling and horrible, horrible clues about the story behind Monobear's Home creeping toward the light of day, we mods have decided to bring back an old staple as far as motives go:

Secrets

In the past we've been pretty handwave-y as far as this motive, letting you guys do your own thing and so on and so forth. This time however we're doing things a little differently!

Starting Tuesday (6/28), Monobear will pick the name of a surviving member of Monday's challenge's losing team at random and read their secret out loud to both sides. What we need from you all, the players, is this: give us your milk secrets. The comments on this post are screened so only the mod team will be seeing them so make them good, ya'll.

Feel free to list multiple secrets for us to choose from but be aware we'll either go for the absolute worst or the most hilarious, there is no in between with us. Make sure your secrets are submitted by Monday night (6/27) at the latest!

Hey, guys! Guess what, we're at the 2 year anniversary of the start of Dangan Roleplay Round 1! It's a momentous occasion, and we're thrilled that you've stuck with us for two wonderful years of despair-inducing, hope-giving, Kirei Kotomine-laden murder-time. We've been through 3 main rounds, 1 gimmick round and 1 guest round, and each one has been an absolute treat for the mod team to run and observe, and each member of the individual playerbases has been absolutely adored.

...That being said, you don't think we're going to let that date pass over without mention of a big announcement?

We're going to be doing another gimmick round. This round will have the theme of Cartoon Network vs. Nickelodeon. 10 Nickelodeon Characters and 10 Cartoon Network characters. What sets this apart from normal gimmick rounds, aside from the player-count, however is the twist that this is the first murdergame where these groups will be competing against one another, and more distrust will be stirred up than ever. That's right, everyone, two murder games for the price of one! Happy late Black Friday, lovelies.

"But, Monomods," you ask. "Surely, a game this complex would require a heftier amount of mods, right?" You're entirely correct, hypothetical reader. Not only will the normal mod-team (Lynny and Ri with art helper Chi) be modding this but after a highly successful turn modding Smash Ronpa, we're also going to be bringing on Lepo and RandomProphet as guest mods once again! We're going to be releasing more details on this in the coming months, but it'd be best to start preparing yourselves for a murdergame that's going to be absolutely slime-soaked.

Introducing Smash Ronpa, an upcoming gimmick round, with official dates to be announced at a later time. This Super Smash Brothers-inspired round is open to characters from first and second party Nintendo series, as well as third party series that have playable characters in Smash. As with the previous gimmick round, there will be 15 slots available.

This is also Dangan Roleplay's first spin-off round, meaning that not only will this game be out of continuity for the great DRRP universe, it will be run by a pair of brand-spankin-new mods! This round will be run by Ran, who played Cynthia in Round 2 and Lepo, who will be playing Wario in the upcoming Mock Trial. They'll be overseeing everything like a pair of god-like Hands, and hope to entertain you to the Master Core.

The motive post this week is a little different from what you may be expecting from us. We said that endgame was coming, which if you've watched rounds 1 and 2 usually means to expect some kind of staged/botched/otherwise unwinnable trial.

But, well, that's not very Disney, now is it? So instead, in addition to the normal encouraging investigation, we've done the death roll and have the murder all plotted out except for one thing.

It's not guaranteed to happen. )

Players have until Wednesday, March 11th to post their guesses.

Hello, darlings, and welcome to Week 2 of Disney Ronpa~! First off let me just say how pleased we are with your eagerness to explore the castle and the amount of activity and CR building we've been seeing this past week! You guys are top!

Now let's see what we can do to tear all that down because with the second week starts the motives!

This week we're taking off the kid gloves and jumping straight into a fun little doozy. What does this mean? Well, kids, it means we're cursing away everyone's greatest strengths.

"But, Monomom!" You ask. "We've already lost our magic!" Oh, darlings, who said anything about your greatest strengths being your majycks? We mods have spent quite some time discussing it and devising personalized curses for everyone that will begin Tuesday morning. Let's get started, shall we?

Anna Borealis will be rendered invisible to her classmates. They will not be able to see or hear her however she will still be able to physically interact with people and objects.

Jack Skellington will become alive and human.

Sora Flyin will be unable to be understood by his classmates. Anything he says will be understandable to himself but to others it will sound like jibberish.

Bill Cipher will be mute. All attempts speak or make verbal noise will only result in silence.

Ariel Strand will lose her human legs and become a mermaid.

Perry T. Platypus will become a photorealistic platypus and thus be unable to move and act as he usually does. He will retain his personality for the purpose of playability however.

Gaston LeGume will lose his impressive muscles and be left with weak, limp noodle limbs.

Winnie T. Pooh
will become an actual grizzly bear. This transformation includes bear strength and a hunger for meat. He too will retain his personality for playability purposes.

Iridessa O'Rinn will lose her pixie dust and be effectively grounded as well as unable to use her light magic.

Donnie Maybeck will become a hologram. He will be intangible to his classmates.

Maleficent Ravenscar will be shrunk down to Iridessa's size.

Naveen Granota will become a frog once again.

Howl Jenkins will lose his handsome looks and become a monstrous black raven-creature.

Donald Duck will see his classmates as either Heartless or Nobodys.

Elsa Borealis will lose all memories of her sister. As far as she'll be concerned she was raised an only child and has never been asked if she'd like to build a snowman.

Questions, comments and concerns may be directed here or on the mod plurk!

Goooooood day, dearies! It’s been a long 3 months since the triumphant ending of Dangan Roleplay Round 2 and goodness gracious have we missed you all! The vacation has been great but now we’re back with some very important (and despair-inducing) announcements!

Firstly, with RL obligations intensifying for your loving Monomom and Monodad and based on how well the previous round went with another set of hands, we’ve decided to bring a third permanent mod in! After two rounds of breaking hearts as a player please welcome R1’s Jimmy Two-Shoes and R2’s Tobias player, Chi! Adore and fear her as you do Ri and Lynny. Love this Chi.

Now, there’s been a lot of talk on plurk about smaller, shorter gimmick rounds and we’re pleased to announce the first one, Disney Ronpa, will be happening January 2015. The official start date and app openings will be announced later this month. For those unaware, this is a round where only Disney/Pixar characters may be apped. This round is also out of continuity for the greater DRRP universe meaning any previously apped/invited Disney characters (ex. Anna, Elsa and Jumba) will not have murder school memories. We’ll have 15 available spots for this round.

As for Round 3, we know a good lot of you are chomping at the bit for dates and details so here you go: round 3 of Dangan Roleplay will be happening June 2015. The reason for not having another winter main round was because round 1, while delightful, had a lot of conflicts with people who were still in school or who were going to be out of town for the holidays, while we found as mods that the time conflicts in round 2 during the summer round tended to be more easily resolved and easier to work around. This also gives us more time to use Disney Ronpa to try out a couple new rules and work a couple remaining kinks out of the trial system.

Obviously, Round 3 is a ways out, so there's not much to say about it just yet. But, given the success of the last time we did it, we're going to have another Dangan Roleplay Mock Trial in preparation for it. The Mock Trial is a chance primarily for new players to experience the way that trials work firsthand, however while we would like to keep it majority newbies, we also like the balance of having a couple veteran players to keep things on the rails (mostly). This mock trial will have 20 openings, and will run similarly to the last one. It will also be entirely non-canon to the main storyline of the rounds.

Additionally, after talking about it amongst ourselves, we have decided to make Round 3 also only open to 20 participants. The reason for this is twofold - firstly, with Round 2 we actually had a problem getting to 30 participants; and secondly, as much as we loved all of you, 30 characters was just too many to trim down to the final 9. Keep in mind that the canon murder games only take place over a matter of two, three weeks at the most. Round 2 was 12 weeks long, and all the surviving characters (as well as some of the ones who were on the deceased side of the final trial) were definitely showing it by the end. So in the interest of shorter future rounds, we're dropping the character cap back down to 20.

Along with this, we will not be instituting any further restrictions with regard to reapping. The only rule is that a single character (not player) can only participate in two murder games, maximum. This is because while we do encourage new people to app, round 2 proved that having a healthy balance of veterans vs newbies overall makes the experience smoother. Since the reserves are filled on a first come, first serve basis, we feel like this is the only way to remain fair for both old and new players.

TL;DR:
- Round 3 and its mock trial will be restricted to 20 participants each.
- Disney Ronpa will be opening for 15 participants in January 2015.
- Round 3 is slated to begin early June 2015, exact dates pending.
- Chi has been appointed a permanent third mod, all hail Monosis.

Gooood evening, sweet players! It’s motive day again tomorrow and we have another big one for you.

Tomorrow, once everyone is good and scattered for the day, the gates between the floor are going to lock tight. For the rest of the week everyone will be trapped on one floor until someone dies.

In the interest of keeping things fair and even and terrible, we’ve taken the liberty of pre-organizing what floors everyone will be stuck on.

Floor 1
Sycamore
Kirei
Cammy
Beat

Floor 2
Schuldig
Betty
Adachi
Naomi

Floor 3
Lysandre
Hanbei
Anna
Cecil

Floor 4
Archer
Cynthia
Goku
Dan

Floor 5
Fujimoto
{...}
Sonico
Inaba
Simon

Oh, and the “no sleeping outside the dorms” rule is still in effect. Have fun~! If you have any questions, drop us a comment here or on Plurk. Unfortunately we're not taking requests to switch floors this time around, since unlike Monkey Fever this motive doesn't really contain sensitive material.

Gooooood evening, my dearies! With tomorrow's motive looming dramatically on the horizon like the cover of an Attack on Titan DVD, we decided now is the perfect time to break out the very special motive that is "Monkey Fever"!

We've sorted everyone into four seperate groups (the asymptomatic, "See No Evil", "Hear No Evil", and "Speak No Evil"). The disease manifests itself in three different ways and symptoms range from mild to severe. All symptoms are all listed below.

Babysitter's Club [the asymptomatic]
- Dan Mandel
- Himeko Inaba
- Super Sonico
- Ike Rockoff
- "Dick Walker"/{...}
- Lysandre Kokinos
- Daisukenojo Bito

See No Evil
- Betty Grof [severe]
- Tobias Fangor [severe]
- Frank Archer [severe]
- Akemi Homura [mild]
- Cynthia [mild]
- Tohru Adachi [mild]

Hear No Evil
- Naomi Kimishima [severe]
- Schuldig Fleischer [severe]
- Hanbei Takenaka [severe]
- Kirei Kotomine [mild]
- Cammy Meele [mild]
- Jay Sasser [mild]
- Fujimoto Nanaumi [mild]

Speak No Evil
- Augustine Sycamore [severe]
- Anna Borealis [severe]
- Cecil Palmer [severe]
- Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul [mild]
- Simon Petrikov [mild]
- Son Goku [mild]

See no Evil
- Mild: Fever, delirium, visual hallucinations, lack of muscle coordination, and loss of control of powers (if any)
- Severe: Fever, blindness, complete and utter lack of powers, and irrational behavior

Hear no Evil
- Mild: Fever, delirium, auditory hallucinations, loss of motor skills, and loss of control of powers
- Severe: Fever, deafness, complete and utter lack of powers, and irrational behavior

Speak no Evil
- Mild: Fever, delirium, tactile hallucinations, loss of motor skills, and loss of control of powers
- Severe: Fever, muteness, complete and utter lack of powers, and irrational behavior

The delirium/irrational behavior, hallucinations, loss of motor skills, and loss of control of powers can be as mild or as severe as you like, meaning if you're in the 'mild' category you can range from severely disabled to practically asymptomatic. Please keep in mind the limitations placed on your characters' powers in-game when playing out the loss of control.

The fevers will break on Friday after the murder and take the hallucinations and delirium along with them, although the lost senses and the weakness/loss of motor skills may linger until the night after the trial at the very latest.

While we did our best to choose a symptom set that would most ruin each character's week, we do want to take the OOC comfort of our players into account. If you feel uncomfortable with the symptom list we've given for any reason, let us know and we'll swap you around to somewhere else on the chart!

Hello, dearest darling Dangan Roleplayers! We apologize for the lateness of this but your mods are a wee bit forgetful.

With the first murder creeping up on us, we want to know what times would be convenient for all of you when it comes to investigations/trials! Quick reminder that investigations/trials/executions run on a 2:1 day system for the game and and your hard working mods are in an EST timezone. We will also be sticking to Friday/Saturday for posting days. Sunday is both a day of rest and the return to the normal 1:1 day ratio.

We're offering three options for posting times. Please pick one or, if you have no preference, let us know!

A) Between 12-2 pm EST

B) Between 5-7 pm EST

C) Between 9-11 pm EST

Goooooood evening, dear Dangan Roleplayers! First off, we'd like to congratulate the 30 of you on surviving the Cornucopia that was reserves and the wait from Wednesday on to actually get into the game proper. We mods are incredibly pleased with the turnout and are eager to get this shindig underway.

However because we had to wait an extra few days to fill our cap and it's a touch late in our modly timezone, we have a question that we'd like you lot to answer: When should the game begin? We have three options and whichever gets the most votes is the one we'll go with.

A) We begin tonight

It's only Tuesday, after all, and there would still be over a week before the first murder. We can do the first death roll and have the intro log up in a couple of hours. If we go with this plan, then the weekly post will go from Wednesday to Sunday this week, because there's no murder planned for the weekend.

B) We begin next Monday

We said the game would begin the week after apps closed and we could stick to it. This would mean a week of waiting but we would be starting on a fresh Monday.

A separate poll will go up next week about when's the best time to post investigation/trial logs, but we want everyone to get settled in and get a feel for the game first. Feel free to ask any questions while you're here and we'll do our best to answer them. It's all in your hands, DRRP-ers!

First of all, we want to say thank you to our participants for making Dangan Roleplay’s first mock trial an overall success! We hope everyone’s excited for round 2, because I know we are, but first we’re going to talk about some things that came up in the Mock Trial that need to be addressed.

[Conduct]
We had hoped that we wouldn’t have to address issues like this, but while observing the Mock Trial there were some troubling instances of sensitive subject matter being made light of. We, the moderators of Dangan Roleplay, have a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate conduct. There was no policy in place during the Mock Trial, and because it was a one-off event everyone who comes into Round 2 will be given a clean slate. The first time that inappropriate behavior is reported to or observed by the moderator team, the thread in question will be frozen and a warning issued to the player or players in breach of conduct. If the behavior persists, the player will be notified of their removal from the game and their character will be mod-controlled into a “punishment” by Headmaster Monobear. Players who are booted from the round for conduct reasons will not be allowed to reserve or apply to any future rounds or Mock Trials for Dangan Roleplay. We don’t expect this to be an OOC problem, so don’t make it one. Don’t harass each other and, while we can’t police your own plurks or blogs or whatever, keep mod plurks a friendly and trigger-free space.

Now, what do we mean by inappropriate conduct? Given the murder-happy nature of the source material, we’re obviously not completely against sensitive topics being discussed between characters. As long as the subject is handled with maturity, and properly warned for if necessary, characters can discuss whatever they want. However, inappropriate jokes about sensitive subject matter will not be tolerated. We don’t care how IC it would be. We don’t care how edgy you or your character are. Before you hit send, think to yourself “is it possible that someone in the playerbase has experienced what I’m about to make a joke about?” and if the answer is yes, don’t make a joke about it. This includes (but is not limited to) subjects like rape, incest, pedophilia, abortion/miscarriage, or abuse (emotional/physical/verbal, child, animal, elder, spousal, ANY KIND OF ABUSE). If you want to make a comment that starts with “but what about _____,” assume that whatever it is you’re asking permission for is off-limits as well.

Our first concern is the comfort of our playerbase, and while we encourage players to work out disputes amongst themselves, we also want our players to come to us if they’re having problems with another player’s IC or OOC conduct. All of this information about conduct will also be added to the FAQ before the beginning of round 2.

[Trial Minigames]
When this suggestion was brought up way back in the feedback post, we were incredibly eager to give it a try. Putting at least “Hangman’s Gambit” as a mod-run mechanic was something we wanted desperately to work in because it seemed like an interesting way to get characters out of a trial rut and make the game feel more Dangan Ronpa.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a way to incorporate trial minigames into a roleplay environment. There are many factors that went into this assessment, trial speed and trying to preserve the organic decision-making process being among them.

[Consistency]
Try to keep your motivations consistent with what you’ve plotted with the mods! Not everyone is going to have an altruistic motivation for murder and that is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged, given how much of the game is based around despair); if you’ve plotted out one thing with the mods and those involved in a case with you, please try to adhere to it as much as possible during the trial itself. Trials can be hectic at best, but that’s why we encourage you to take the time to plot out as much as possible beforehand so that you have your story straight on the stand.

Anyone is free to comment and discuss on the points outlined in this post; however, mock trial participants who are planning to app into round 2 must leave a comment on this post so that we know that you read it. Your round 2 reserve will not be processed if you don’t do this.

Reserves for round 2 will be opening May 3, 2014, and applications will open a week later on May 10, 2014. More details on this will come out next week. A RESERVE FOR THE MOCK TRIAL DOES NOT EQUAL A RESERVE FOR ROUND 2. Bye, have a good week!

As of today (2/2), we are officially beginning endgame!

As was mentioned before, starting today we're switching to a 3:1 OOC:IC day format. For every 3 OOC days that pass it will be 1 IC day. So while the game will officially end on 2/17 it will only be a few days ICly instead of 15 days.

Feel free to ask any questions here or on plurk, you know where to find us.

Thank you all so much for sticking with us to this point. This game has been an amazing experience to create and run and we hope you're all as excited for what's to come as we are.

Let's make endgame as explosively awesome as we know we can!

As you all are aware, the only AC for this game is a weekly check-in and a link to a bit of activity from the previous week. For example, a thread from Week 2 would be used for Week 3 and so on and so forth.

Well, we're giving you all a free pass for the first week! Not that any of you really need it because wow, all of you did amazing with activity for Week 1. Keep it up through the next few weeks, dearies! When regular check-ins do start they'll be posted along with weekly logs on Mondays with Monobear announcing motives Tuesdays.

Also a small general reminder from Monomod to keep your hope shard links updated! It makes it a whole lot easier for us and if you don't provide the links you don't get the hope shards. Remember, threads in any log count toward hope shards except trials and investigations/body discovery logs!

We your intelligent and attractive mods have decided in our infinite wisdom to postpone the mutual killing game, so that everyone can enjoy the despair-filled environment for at least a couple of weeks.

What this means for you!

A mingle log will go up on 12/1 for the characters to start getting to know each other. Usami will be your chaperon for this part of the trip, so treat my little sister well, you bastards, or there will be a punishment!

There will be No Murder in the week of 12/1. The first murder will be rolled for the week of 12/8.

A log will go up on 12/8 detailing my takeover of this field trip, as well as that troublesome little sister of mine's despair-filled makeover into Monomi. After that, the killing game will start as originally planned.

Consider this free week a reward for you bastards filling up the game so fast!

Upupupupu~!
