It's been years since we said Goodbye Despair Academy, and we've had all kinds of adventures in the meantime! But today, Monomom and Monodad are getting the band back together for a very special reunion.

You've heard of the Ten Years Later meme - but we're here to bring the first one that actually takes place ten years later (we know, we can't believe it either).

It's been a crazy ten years, filled with laughs and murders and golden ends galore. But we're going back to the beginning, and we want to invite you to come with us back to where it all started.

What: A Ten Years Later Dangan Roleplay Reunion!
Who: All past players and characters from the main three canon rounds of Dangan Roleplay! (if there's demand, we can also provide a separate mingle for gimmick rounds, but for the main log we're sticking to the "canon" only.)
When: November 30, 2023 - mark your calendars!

I didn't play in one of the canon rounds/wasn't murdergaming then, can I still participate?
Yes, under certain conditions! One way is to be recruited by one of our original Despair Veterans to play a castmate for them!

The other way is that we will be opening sign-ups for characters from Danganronpa and Super Danganronpa 2. Priority will be given to anyone who played them in the epilogues for a canon round, but if the spot is still available by November 28, then we will allow new volunteers. The reason the deadline is before the day itself, is so that someone who may not have been in the canon rounds can have a chance to familiarize themselves with DRRP lore and to ask Lynny and Ri any questions they may have, while still giving our old friends who took some of the NPC weight off our shoulders back in the day over a week to step back into those shoes.

I don't play that character anymore, do I have to bring them/can I bring someone else?
If you've dropped a character/lost a journal/just don't think you can find the DRRP voice anymore, that's fine! Participation is completely voluntary, and this is all just for fun!

Availability for other characters is subject to the same conditions as players who didn't take part in the canon rounds, with one additional . You can sign up as a castmate of a returning character, volunteer to play a Danganronpa character, or - where applicable - play a child of your character in absentia of your original character. We only ask all original children that aren't just being played as an extension of their parent/babe-in-arms be at least 5-6 years old, aka of an appropriate age to be running around causing chaos on their own.

Is this a stealth launch for a reboot/round 4?

Not at this time. We know you're disappointed but we mostly just wanted to put together something for the anniversary without rushing to throw together an entire game and risk creating an unsatisfactory experience.

What have they been up to? Haruka still works at the FF main HQ, still holding the title of that person you call for weird and nonlethal operations and/or fixing whatever needs fixing. She never did give up pranking people who were too stodgy or no fun, either. At least she managed to graduate high school after having to repeat a year.

She and her sister and parents did manage to get free from the extended family's shadow, and the epilogue of Kanata route applies, at least the part where much of the family ended up in prison. Since then, Haruka has been dedicated to making sure no one else ends up like her and the other R3s, and so... she's adopted a small army of sad murdergame children rescued from various missions. Help us all.
What are you looking for? I'm happy to jump back into all CR, Haruka learned to love in murderschool and is very attached to her friends. If you work at main HQ and vetoed her petition to do paperwork in glitter pen or made her do stuff she fell asleep during, she has probably put Kool-Aid in your showerhead to turn your hair green. I have absolutely not established anything about Haruka's gaggle of foundlings, throw ideas at me.

SONICO...: Moved to Kalos with a bunch of the R2s and started living in Lumiose City with Adachi. They have like seven Pokemon between them and two, like, actual human daughters. No, They Are Still Not Married. She now works as a full time model around Pokefrance, though her girlbesties from canon eventually followed her over to Kalos and they have been occasionally performing and releasing songs as First Astronomical Velocity when they've all got time to get together and practice. Unbothered, flourishing, living her best life.

KUREHA...: Similarly moved to Pokefrance with the R3 Teen Gang and immediately basically became the resident housecat bear of the BnB. Having become settled and happy in herself, she eventually decides to head out on a Pokemon journey and is in the middle of the Kalos Gym challenge. She has a Stufful, because of course she does. - As of several years ago, Wash is formally and officially retired from the space military (yes, he kept the power armour) and is living his best househusband life in Kurain. He has glasses, even more grey hair and is still built like a brick shithouse.

Fucking hard to pin down.

Dan spent two years playing good with the Foundation. Did a pretty good job when he actually did work! Had a nervous breakdown, destroyed some property in a frothy rampage. Took a leave of absence. Spent three years as a conspiracy hermit in whatever backwater reality he managed to secure for himself. Did Something Not Right during this period. Inexplicably reappeared with proper hygiene, manners, and a coffee addiction. People probably guessed (and correctly) this was a long-winded revenge scheme. Had another nervous breakdown six months in. Vanished completely for another year. Sent a Not Sober breakup email to everyone by mistake, covered for it by laying out a second twenty page email about how he was “friend breaking” up with people for a litany of reasons. Another six months of silence. Finally showed up… mostly functional? He’s much more reserved with people, especially people he had been particularly nasty to, but he doesn’t actively seek out argument. He can get heated and excited, but never about Personal Wrongs anymore. He can, upon occasion, launch a revenge scheme on behalf of other people if asked, but he just generally doesn’t have that in him anymore and going back to that place seems to take a lot out of him emotionally. He has a podcast he tells no one about. He’s built up his eclectic skills to even broader heights. He’s fucked up in a new way now.

Where people are at with him is kind of up to you! How many bridges he’s burned or stopped to even fix is pretty loose. If people were going through a rough moment during any of the last ten years, Dan actually probably would have stepped up to Be A Real Person and help out, even in the hermit years. He just kind of broadly settled into a guy who can get angry with you, rather than at you. He’s loyal to people who put up with his shit for so long and generally quiet around people he Permanently Fucked Up With.

Due to the process of which he was resurrected in R2, Simon was cured of the crown's curse like. a THOUSAND YEARS before it should've happened? And time is a weird soup in Ooo already, so he's STILL trying to come to terms with what his world becomes, including striking up a friendship with Finn. But he and Betty have acclimated fully to the foundation, Simon joining them as chief archivist now, and everything is fine-ish.

As of late, though, he's been having weird dreams about a female Finn and her cat...

JAY
Jay has been a busy bee. He splits his time between his own world, Kalos (where he shares an apartment with Miriam in Lumiose City as a friend & consistently volunteers time into whatever restoration efforts might still be going on), and doing missions for the Future Foundation in order to support this between-two-worlds lifestyle. I imagine most of his work has to do with reconnaissance/spy stuff, where he gathers information to provide to more "on the ground" agents. He's not so keen on letting others visit his world (he's particularly frosty and has fought hard to keep any permanent Future Foundation presence getting established, despite his own long-standing work with them) although there are some notable exceptions to this rule. lmk if you are interested in your character having met jay's otter family!

Generally speaking, he still keeps most others at an arm's length and is satisfied with playing the role of shady and mean little weirdo. This is mostly because Jay has hang-ups when it comes to sharing himself with others, but also out of a lingering sense of responsibility for Tobias' murder. But for all his prickles and insistence that he only has a "working relationship" with the Future Foundation, he does show up (when invited) to various social gatherings involving his "class"/Hope's Army.

Important note: he is still Very Fucking Short and as testy about it as ever whenever this is pointed out. little guy who has maybe gained 2-3 centimeters at most in the past nine years. a curse on every other teenager who got a growth spurt!!!!!!!

RYOJI
After his round ended, Ryoji was pulled along to Kalos by his friends rather than return to his home world where his presence would kick off the apocalypse again. He lives with some of the other R3 characters managing a bed & breakfast... I want to say it was also nearby Lumiose?? but honestly I forgor. Ryoji does his best to keep in touch with anyone from R3 who didn't wind up in Kalos, via a lot of forms but I swear I remember actual snail mail letters being a thing. He has probably been to visit other worlds if other characters are open to that! He's not involved with the Future Foundation at all, though.

Between R3 and now, Ryoji has developed an interest in photography. Although he considers it and treats it as a hobby more than anything else, he has gotten pretty skilled at it! In addition to his cellphone, he usually has Some sort of camera with him to capture moments that catch his eye.

What are you looking for? honestly anything tbh!! just as a heads up my voice is stronger for jay vs. ryoji at the moment, although I will try and do some canon review to bring ryoji back if people would like to thread with him.

technically still working for the future foundation. still has an EXTREMELY specific skill set and an absolutely abysmal track record of remembering the parts of the mission that are not "seduce the mastermind" related, though, so the foundation let them fuck off to kalos, where they now run a "ghost pokemon sanctuary."

........ it's a haunted house. they live in a haunted house, but someone asked if it was a ghost pokemon sanctuary and tran was like "sure i guess" so legally they run a "ghost" "pokemon" "sanctuary" that's just an extremely haunted, extremely rancid in vibes house. you can spend the night there for a 500 pokedollar donation, which is weirdly popular among ghost-type enthusiasts, and in actuality tran works as a clothing model.

most importantly, tran learned the word "nonbinary" on a mission in the last ten years and very excitedly declared themself to be all genders, all the time. final form of shsl transcience?? goes by they/them pronouns now unless they're wearing pants. then it's he/him.

What have they been up to?
After the end of R2, Anna returned to Arendelle to take care of her kingdom alongside her beloved sister Elsa!! With the gates open and the Future Foundation's support behind her, Anna was able to form a fairly vast network of connections — thanks to all their help, Arendelle reforged its reputation as a bustling port with extraordinary hospitality. Though she never quite became "the picture of sophisticated grace," Anna's kind heart and natural charisma earned her many friends and favors.

About three years ago, Anna took the throne as Queen of Arendelle (a long story). While she still feels like she's flying by the seat of her pants, she hasn't caused the place to freeze over yet, so she's probably not doing too too badly. (Sorry, Sis!) Despite the regal appointment, some things never change: she's every bit the nosy, giddy chatterbox she once was, as much as she makes an effort to put on a mature front in Regal Affairs. Around familiar faces, she doesn't even try — somehow or another, she's still the Super High School Level Little Sister, with all of the shenanigans and laughs that brings.

She finds herself in Kalos very frequently to see her family, including little Nathan and Alyssa, who isn't so little anymore..! She's yet to settle down with a prince consort of her own — she and Kristoff have been kind of on-again off-again over the last nine years, but it doesn't quite seem to stick...

What have they been up to?
Futo went home but signed on as a field agent exclusively so she could keep in touch, so she goes back and forth a lot! She gets assigned a lot of menial tasks like filing paperwork or moving boxes. Anything that doesn't have her touching computers lmao. She's still as bad with technology as she was 7 yrs ago, some things simply do not change. A few years ago she cracked and adopted a Fennekin saying it was her shikigami but at this point she's stopped lying to herself. It's a magic fire fox who likes to sit on her head all the time and she named it Touka. Also she's pretty much dropped the non-human hostility, I think.
