It's been years since we said Goodbye Despair Academy, and we've had all kinds of adventures in the meantime! But today, Monomom and Monodad are getting the band back together for a very special reunion.

You've heard of the Ten Years Later meme - but we're here to bring the first one that actually takes place ten years later (we know, we can't believe it either).

It's been a crazy ten years, filled with laughs and murders and golden ends galore. But we're going back to the beginning, and we want to invite you to come with us back to where it all started.

What: A Ten Years Later Dangan Roleplay Reunion!
Who: All past players and characters from the main three canon rounds of Dangan Roleplay! (if there's demand, we can also provide a separate mingle for gimmick rounds, but for the main log we're sticking to the "canon" only.)
When: November 30, 2023 - mark your calendars!

I didn't play in one of the canon rounds/wasn't murdergaming then, can I still participate?
Yes, under certain conditions! One way is to be recruited by one of our original Despair Veterans to play a castmate for them!

The other way is that we will be opening sign-ups for characters from Danganronpa and Super Danganronpa 2. Priority will be given to anyone who played them in the epilogues for a canon round, but if the spot is still available by November 28, then we will allow new volunteers. The reason the deadline is before the day itself, is so that someone who may not have been in the canon rounds can have a chance to familiarize themselves with DRRP lore and to ask Lynny and Ri any questions they may have, while still giving our old friends who took some of the NPC weight off our shoulders back in the day over a week to step back into those shoes.

I don't play that character anymore, do I have to bring them/can I bring someone else?
If you've dropped a character/lost a journal/just don't think you can find the DRRP voice anymore, that's fine! Participation is completely voluntary, and this is all just for fun!

Availability for other characters is subject to the same conditions as players who didn't take part in the canon rounds, with one additional . You can sign up as a castmate of a returning character, volunteer to play a Danganronpa character, or - where applicable - play a child of your character in absentia of your original character. We only ask all original children that aren't just being played as an extension of their parent/babe-in-arms be at least 5-6 years old, aka of an appropriate age to be running around causing chaos on their own.

Is the blood still pink?

Is this a stealth launch for a reboot/round 4?

Not at this time. We know you're disappointed but we mostly just wanted to put together something for the anniversary without rushing to throw together an entire game and risk creating an unsatisfactory experience.

What have they been up to? Haruka still works at the FF main HQ, still holding the title of that person you call for weird and nonlethal operations and/or fixing whatever needs fixing. She never did give up pranking people who were too stodgy or no fun, either. At least she managed to graduate high school after having to repeat a year.

She and her sister and parents did manage to get free from the extended family's shadow, and the epilogue of Kanata route applies, at least the part where much of the family ended up in prison. Since then, Haruka has been dedicated to making sure no one else ends up like her and the other R3s, and so... she's adopted a small army of sad murdergame children rescued from various missions. Help us all.
What are you looking for? I'm happy to jump back into all CR, Haruka learned to love in murderschool and is very attached to her friends. If you work at main HQ and vetoed her petition to do paperwork in glitter pen or made her do stuff she fell asleep during, she has probably put Kool-Aid in your showerhead to turn your hair green. I have absolutely not established anything about Haruka's gaggle of foundlings, throw ideas at me.

SONICO...: Moved to Kalos with a bunch of the R2s and started living in Lumiose City with Adachi. They have like seven Pokemon between them and two, like, actual human daughters. No, They Are Still Not Married. She now works as a full time model around Pokefrance, though her girlbesties from canon eventually followed her over to Kalos and they have been occasionally performing and releasing songs as First Astronomical Velocity when they've all got time to get together and practice. Unbothered, flourishing, living her best life.

KUREHA...: Similarly moved to Pokefrance with the R3 Teen Gang and immediately basically became the resident housecat bear of the BnB. Having become settled and happy in herself, she eventually decides to head out on a Pokemon journey and is in the middle of the Kalos Gym challenge. She has a Stufful, because of course she does. Quoth my plurk: "24yo Kureha is very soft and has gotten a little chubby in contrast to how rail thin and underweight she was when she was a miserable teen [...] Kureha only eats the food that 'tastes like love' to her so the idea of a Kureha finally in a place where she is confident and secure and has grown up surrounded by people who unreservedly love her in all sorts of ways having put on enough weight to actually be chubby makes me very soft". - He, Tucker and Maya formally became an item about a year and some change (I think?) after the end of R3, with the space boys splitting their time between their obligations on Chorus and Kurain.
- He formally spadopted (space adopted) Dave Strider and Kureha Tsubaki! His beautiful murdergame children who are very much adults now!
- As of several years ago, Wash is formally and officially retired from the space military (yes, he kept the power armour) and is living his best househusband life in Kurain. He has glasses, even more grey hair and is still built like a brick shithouse.
- He occasionally gets called in by the Future Foundation for special assignments but most of what he does is consulting work b/c his body is a little broken.

the beginning of Your Brand

We might have talked about this ages ago but I feel like the second Kureha announced she was going on her Pokemon journey, Wash was texting her at minimum once a day to check in and make sure she was doing okay, that she had all the supplies she needed, that her Pokemon were doing okay- full helicopter dad all the way from Kurain or possibly even Chorus.

What have they been up to?

Fucking hard to pin down.

Dan spent two years playing good with the Foundation. Did a pretty good job when he actually did work! Had a nervous breakdown, destroyed some property in a frothy rampage. Took a leave of absence. Spent three years as a conspiracy hermit in whatever backwater reality he managed to secure for himself. Did Something Not Right during this period. Inexplicably reappeared with proper hygiene, manners, and a coffee addiction. People probably guessed (and correctly) this was a long-winded revenge scheme. Had another nervous breakdown six months in. Vanished completely for another year. Sent a Not Sober breakup email to everyone by mistake, covered for it by laying out a second twenty page email about how he was “friend breaking” up with people for a litany of reasons. Another six months of silence. Finally showed up… mostly functional? He’s much more reserved with people, especially people he had been particularly nasty to, but he doesn’t actively seek out argument. He can get heated and excited, but never about Personal Wrongs anymore. He can, upon occasion, launch a revenge scheme on behalf of other people if asked, but he just generally doesn’t have that in him anymore and going back to that place seems to take a lot out of him emotionally. He has a podcast he tells no one about. He’s built up his eclectic skills to even broader heights. He’s fucked up in a new way now.

Where people are at with him is kind of up to you! How many bridges he’s burned or stopped to even fix is pretty loose. If people were going through a rough moment during any of the last ten years, Dan actually probably would have stepped up to Be A Real Person and help out, even in the hermit years. He just kind of broadly settled into a guy who can get angry with you, rather than at you. He’s loyal to people who put up with his shit for so long and generally quiet around people he Permanently Fucked Up With.
