When the sun goes down the stars come out, like the ghosts of yesterday
After today's Miriam sighting, it looks like the boundaries between the living and the dead may be getting a little thin. Whether that's optimistic or not is up to you to figure out, though it's possible your character will just think they're going insane.
This week, random top-levels will be pinged by
shsldeadpeople. The spectres, as it were, cannot be summoned to you - your character can try once they know the dead people are there, but it's up to those spectres whether they appear or not, and just trying to call to them won't necessarily mean they'll show up.
But they can hear you just fine, and they will understand your character's words if spoken to! Unfortunately, the tradeoff is that they can't speak themselves, neither out loud or via brainspeaky wordnoises - the first option will just get simple indications of "yes" and "no", also maybe awkward gestures, and any attempt to read their minds or speak to them with telepathy will be like yelling into a void: anything sent out will be absorbed and they won't send anything back, and there doesn't seem to be any way of reading them.
They also really don't like being touched; being dead comes with certain perks, and it looks like superhuman speed is one of them. Any attempts to make physical contact will just make them flinch, back away or otherwise dodge you, and may cause them to bolt and disappear if it's pursued enough.
So they're going to be completely silent and a little skittish - but given what happened to them, can you really blame them for it?
