but basically, gravure is a subsection of the Japanese idol industry that's centered around sex appeal. While normal idols are 'cute and pure', gravure idols are 'sexy and charismatic' if you get my drift. The closest Western equivalent would be a swimsuit model or a pinup girl, basically.
